Bauchi Govt presents seven operational vehicles to vigilante, mulls deployment of drone system to fight armed bandits

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has hinted his administration’s plan to deploy technology in fighting armed bandits terrorising some identified hard-to-reach communities of the state.

The governor made this known while handing over Seven operational vehicles to the Bauchi state Vigilante and empowerment Agency at the government house on Monday.

He said his administration has been in Tunisia with a view to establishing drone system to strengthen security architecture of the state and curb insecurity.

According to him, his administration will not fold its arms while bandits, miscreants and other charlatans overrun the state and make the citizens feel unsecured.

“We want to deploy technology, we have been to Tunisia, very soon we will establish drone system around the areas so that we can know their movement, so that we can track them very well, and by so doing we will now show how states can tackle security challenges with the assistance of experience security agencies, the military and the rest”, Mohammed explained.

“We will not just sit down and be overrun by bandits, miscreants and charlatans. We are doing our best to make sure that we make Bauchi safe and secure”, he the governor vowed.

While appreciating the commitment of security agencies in supporting his administration fight against insecurity, the Governor also commended members of the state vigilante for showing gallantry in the discharge of their responsibility.

“They are always there fighting to ensure that we are safe and secured. If I tell you how much they have gone, the extra mile they are going definitely, we will be thanking them all the day”, he said.

Governor Mohammed who pledged monthly funding to enable the vigilante carry out security surveillance, such that the ongoing employment of more Vigilante will soon be on board by placing them on government payroll to motivate them do more.

He thanked the commissioner of Police, the DSS, the civil defense and the brigade commander for their support to his government to ensure security of lives and properties of the citizens.

“They are doing so much to make sure that we are safe and secured, especially in our vulnerable areas, the hard-to-reach places like Alkaleri, Toro, Tafawa Balewa and Ningi. We know what is going on in the country but certainly we have become a safe corridor in the midst of insecurity around us”, he said.
