Bauchi Governor supports ASCOE Azare to Run NCE, Degree Programmes

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi has expressed support to the Aminu Saleh College of Education (ASCOE), Azare, to run both Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and degree programmes concurrently.
Briefing newsmen Speaking after a meeting with the governor and heads of tertiary institutions, ASCOE Provost Professor Asabe Sadiya Mohammed hailed the approval as a significant milestone that will broaden access to quality teacher education in Bauchi State.
“The dual mandate will help meet the growing demand for qualified educators while boosting Bauchi’s educational and socio-economic development,” she said.
Governor Mohammed approved recruitment of 154 staff members, including absorption of part-time lecturers and hiring of new academic personnel to address manpower gaps.
According to her, the governor also directed the restoration of electricity supply to the college, ongoing road construction, and renovation/construction of staff quarters.
The provost stated that the governor has also directed local government Chairmen to support student sponsorships.
Professor Mohammed appreciated Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration Dr. Lydia Haruna Tsammani for her guidance.
She also thanked the Governing Council led by Rtd. Senator Adamu Ibrahim Gumba and partners like NCCE, NUC, and University of Maiduguri for collaborative support.
ASCOE reaffirmed readiness to partner with the state government to advance education, pledging to meet a two-week deadline for regulatory submissions as directed by Governor Mohammed.
The development reflects Bauchi State’s commitment to strengthening tertiary education and enhancing teacher training capacity.
