UMTH trains PHC workers, offers free medical outreach to mark 2025 World Oral Health Day

The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) has observed the World Oral Health Day with the training of primary healthcare workers.A press statement from the public relations department of the federal health institution, said that the programme was carried out in collaboration with Nigerian Dental Association Borno state chapter.According to the press statement, the celebration of the World Oral Health Day was also climaxed by a sensitization workshop and medical outreach.The statement explained that the day which is annually observed on 20th of March annually, brought together stakeholders to chat the way forward on the significance of oral health to the populace.”This year’s theme is: A happy mouth is a happy mind.During the opening ceremony the guest speaker Professor S.O. Nwhator spoke extensively on bridging the gap: communicating the life – saving link between gum health and overall well being.The press statement added that the Chief host who is also the Chief Medical Director University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Professor Ahmed Ahidjo represented by Chairman Medical Advisory Committee Professor Modu Baba Kagu urged the need for personnel to study the various dental sub specialty saying the hospital is ready to sponsor them.
