Bauchi govt takes free medical outreach to Zungur district ahead of investment summit

Ahead of the investment summit billed to hold on 8th and 9th October 2025, the Bauchi state government, in collaboration with the African Medical Center of Excellence (AMCE), has launched a two-day free medical outreach in Liman Katagum community, Zungur district of the state.
While declaring the commencement of the outreach open, the deputy governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, represented by the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, emphasized the importance of health in achieving economic prosperity.
He stated that the government is committed to reducing physical and financial barriers to accessing essential health services on the citizens.
The deputy governor explained that the medical outreach will provide clinical services, including ante-natal and child immunization, general medical consultations, nursing care, laboratory investigations, and pharmaceutical services.
According to him, the second day will be dedicated to performing surgeries on patients identified during the first day of the outreach.
Rt. Hon. Jatau commended the Bauchi state ministry of health, health workers, volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and laboratory scientists, as well as development partners and sponsors, for their efforts in making the outreach possible.
He further disclosed that the outreach is part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen the health system and ensure equitable access to quality healthcare services for all.
The deputy governor maintained that the Bauchi state government under governor Bala Mohammed has invested in health infrastructure, human resources, and modern equipment, with the goal of creating a healthier Bauchi where every citizen has the opportunity to live a full, productive, and dignified life.
In a remark, the Chief Medical Director of the Bauchi state Specialists Hospital, who is leading the medical outreach, Abdulkarim Mairiga, pledged to ensure that the medical outreach produced the desired outcome, by reducing healthcare burden on the benefitting communities.
On his part, the Executive chairman of Bauchi state Primary healthcare development Board (BSPHCDB), Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, said the medical outreach is part of Governor Mohammed’s initiatives to give back to the community.
“Our intention is to reach 1,000 people and I can see the crowd is over 2,000. On our part as BSPHCDB, we are going to do immunization of all the children that are here, we are going to take care of all the babies brought here free of charge”, he added.
“The idea is, today we are going to carry out medical consultation and then by tomorrow we are going to carry out surgical procedures in our primary healthcare center here in Liman Katagum, so we want everybody to cooperate, there is a lot of crowd, the need the support of everybody to make us have a successful outing “, Dr. Rilwanu said.
He disclosed that about 38 doctors, 45 nurses, about 25 Laboratory scientists, and about 12 pharmacists have been mobilized to execute the free medical outreach.
