The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, including federal and private schools, citing “overwhelming security concerns” for students, teachers, and communities.
In a statement by Jalaludeen Usman, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, the government stressed that the safety of children is “our highest moral responsibility,” urging parents, guardians, and stakeholders to remain calm and cooperative.
“Every student deserves to learn in a safe, stable environment, free of fear,” the statement read.
The ministry assured that the authorities are working with security agencies to resolve the situation and will provide updates.
While calling on members of the public to report any suspicious activity, the statement also said the duration of the closure is yet to be determined.
