Dambam LG Chairman calls for establishment of cassava processing company in Birniwa

The executive Chairman of Dambam local government area of Bauchi state, Hon Yakubu Garba Tela has appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed to establish a cassava processing industry in Birniwa community of the local government.
Honourable Garba Tela stated this on Thursday while speaking at a monthly sensitization lecture organized by the Bauchi state Agricultural Development programme (BSADP) in Birniwa community of Dambam local government.
Represented by his Deputy Hon Iliya Isa Dagauda, the local government chairman called also appealed to the government of Bauchi state to train more famers on mechanise farming in order to increase food production in the state.
According to him, agriculture which formed part of their campaign promises and manifesto, if well implemented, will boost the sector towards achieving food security.
In his speech, the program manager of Bauchi state Agricultural Department programme, Malam Ya’u Mohammed called on Birniwa farmers to pay more attention on cassava farming.
He equally assured that the state government is always ready to facilitate and empower the farmers in order to produce more agricultural outputs with a view to addressing food insecurity in the state.
He enjoined the youths to participate in cassava farming which he said is a cash crop.
Our Correspondent reports that the first paper presented at the event had “Understanding the challenges and opportunities for sustainable cassava production”, as topic and was presented by Mal Sale Zadanga.
Also, the second paper presented by Mal Mohammed Garba Toro is focused on “Selection Training and management of work Bull, Bull practice” as topic.
The third paper was presented by Dr Yunusa Shuaibu of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi with the titled “2025 NIMET Seasonal prediction and farmers intensification process”.
In his presentation, Dr Yunusa mentioned that this year’s Expectations date of rainfall in Bauchi state is on 15, May, 2025 to 15 June, 2025, explaining that in Dambam local Government area, rain is expected on 12th May, 2025 to end on 20 November, 2025.
In his remarks the representative of Dambam District head, Alh Ahmed Jaudo (Mabudin Dambam) expressed appreciation to the organers of the programme for selecting Dambam local Government as the venue.
Among those who attended the occasion include, Leader of Council Members of Dambam local Government, zonal Director Northern zone, Central zone , Dambam local Government stakeholders in Agriculture, Local farmers, politicians and General public.
