Bauchi 2027: Coalition urges Gov Mohammed to anoint Senator Jika as

As permutations of who becomes who in the political space of Bauchi state ahead of the 2027 general elections, Coalition of Concerned People of Bauchi state has appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state to anoint Senator Halliru Dauda Jika as his successor.

Addressing a press conference in Bauchi on Saturday, Chairman of the Coalition Hon. Ahmed Yero said they have commenced mobilizing support for the Senator who also holds the traditional title of Dokajin Bauchi to join the gubernatorial race ahead the 2027 polls.

“We wish to collectively request the support of the current governor of our state, Sen. Bala Mohammed Kauran Bauchi in this project as we assured him of the loyalty and humility of distinguished Senator Halliru Dauda Jika as a confident and able personality to manage the affairs of Bauchi State in a very good respectful manner”, Hon Yero said.

According to him, the Coalition has duly observed that there is the need to present the best of the best with regards to the personalities and identities Bauchi state has to offer for 2027 governorship election.

“With a deep sense of responsibility and accountability that we believe that at a time in the history and time of our dear state, and without prejudice to all other governorship aspirants, we thought that Senator Halliru Dauda Jika (Dokajin Bauchi) is observed to have necessary qualities to lead Bauchi state in 2027”, the Coalition disclosed.

Hon Ahmed Yero who explained that Dokaji’s past records from 2007 as member representing Ganjuwa West Bauchi State House of Assembly and later elected as a speaker by his colleagues is a plus to his suitability for the Bauchi Governor’s seat.

The Coalition recalled that Jika also contested for the Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency and won as member Federal House of Representatives where he was also appointed to serve as Chairman House Committee on police affairs for a complete tenure of 2015 to 2019.

Hon Yero further said, based on Hon Jika’s abilities to prove himself as a good representative, his people decided to promote him to the rank of Senator Bauchi Central Senatorial district which comprised of six LGAs.

He said that the Coalition, considering Hon Jika’s track record of achievements, went to the field, sampling people’s opinion which resulted to massive support of the stakeholders consulted in favor of the Senator.

“Even though he contested in 2023, but this time around, Bauchi people wants him as their next governor. It’s on this premise, that we successively write to various stake-holders across party line in the state”, Hon Yero added.

He pointed out that the Coalition has also written to royal fathers and the custodian of the state’s traditional institutions, including the religious leaders all over the state to seek for their indulgence, support and prayer for Hon Jika.

Yero stressed that Hon Jika’s aspiration is not narrowed within a small group of people which informed the Coalition’s idea to make an appeal to the entire Bauchi people, particularly youth and women to embrace him as a collective choice for the number one political seat in Bauchi come 2027.
