A concerned youth, Snr. Comrade John Rica Emmanuel has written an open letter reminding Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state of his promise to actualize the Sayawa Chiefdom within the scope of six months after a meeting with Zaar/ Sayawa stakeholders in December last year.

In the letter titled, “Soft Reminder To His Excellency Senator Bala Abdukadir Muhammad (Kauran Bauchi) On His Promise To Zaar People Of Southern Bauchi, Comrade Rica commended the governor for the steps taken so far on the issue of the Chiefdom.

He recalled that the Governor had met with the Zaar stakeholders at the government house on the 9th December, 2024 where issues of the chiefdom were deliberated intensively in search for a lasting solution for peace and Unity of Tafawa Balewa.

Rica recalled, “after the meeting Sir, you issued a press statement and in that address, you said in six (6) months time you will actualize the Zaar Chiefdom and the entire people were happy, they expressed their joy in the zaar usual way by dancing”.

According to him, as at at 9th May, 2025, the promised clocks exactly five months but the Zaar community is yet to hear from the government which necessitated the reminder.

Comrade Rica who expressed optimisms that the Governor’s statement will not go unexecuted, however said he is disturbed and confused that no visible moves are being taken for the actualization of the government’s statement.

“Even though we are aware of some groups of individuals working against the proposition to sabotage it, we know that the governor has the final say. No indegine of Bauchi can tell the governor what to do as far as the state is concerned under your watch”, he said.

Comrade Rica added: “On the issues of modalities for selection, Sir, this has been the position of the Zaar people, “Our mode of selection is one person not three”, and to that effect, we as a community has presented the name of Air Commodore Ishaku Komo Rtd to the preceding government (Mal.Isa Yuguda) to be precise”.

Rica stated that retired Air Commodore Ishaku Komo remains the unanimous choice of the Zaar community for the position of the Gungzaar.

“The Zaar people are still standing with their decision to uphold it in your own government as they have presented to you, Sir. We are not changing to a new one. We are highly principled, and we respect our principles”, the concerned youth said.

He claimed that “95% of Zaar people are standing on the status quo, which is Air Commodore Ishaku Komo Rtd. That has been demonstrated in many ways, showing the whole world that the entire Zaar land is with Air Commodore Ishaku Komo Rtd”.

Comrade Rica said,
“Sir, I know that you are a democratically elected governor, and you were sworn in as the governor of Bauchi State with the mandate of the majority. Therefore, your government should be fair to Zaar people as the democratic government that it is to respect the wish of majority since the actualization is targeted at the peace and Unity of Zaar land (Tafawabalewa)”.

He prayed that the governor will act on this reminder to fulfil his promise to Zaar people by confirming Air Commodore Ishaku Komo Rtd as the Gungzaar.
