The Senator representing Bauchi South senatorial district at the national assembly, Senator Shehu Buba Umar has been appointed by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio to lead a 20-member organizing committee of national conference on security matters.

Baushe Daily Times gathered that the move is meant to comprehensively address the security challenges confronting the nation, fostering a collaborative approach to enhance national stability and safety.

The appointment was announced by the Senate President on Thursday, May 15, 2025, following thorough deliberation and approval by the majority of the senators.

Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Majority Leader representing Ekiti Central, has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Conference committee, while Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, representing Kebbi North is to serve as the Deputy Chairman.
