You deserve sound education, Bauchi First Lady tells children on World Children’s Day

First Lady and wife of the Bauchi state Governor Hajiya A’isha Bala Mohammed has disclosed that children all over the world deserve sound education in order to make them attain their potentials.

The wife of the Governor made this known when she received representatives of children led by the officials of Bauchi state Field office of United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF in her office on Wednesday.

Hajiya A’isha Bala Mohammed who called on the school children to focus on their studies, noted that the Bauchi state government under her husband is doing everything possible to cater for the living condition of children who are leaders of tomorrow.

While assuring the children of government’s support toward protecting their rights, the First Lady said that the theme for the 2024 World Children’s Day, which “calls on adults to listen to the future” came at a right time considering the rate of violation of children’s right.

“As we all know, children are the leaders of tomorrow hence the need to protect their right by given them sound education, take care of their health and provide conducive environment for them to achieved their potentials”, she added.

According to her, failure to protect the rights of the children can have devastating effect on the communities and by extension to National Development.

Hajiya A’isha pointed out that, in her capacity as the Bauchi State First Lady, the Initiator of Almuhibba Foundation and Chancellor Almuhibba Open University, she came up with various programmes aimed at improving the lives of children in both urban and rural areas.

She explained that a committee on Gender Based Violence which was constituted under her leadership has been working towards protecting children from sexual harassment, domestic violence and other related gender-based violence.

She added that the committee also provide psychosocial supports to victims/survivors of gender- based violence.
