APC lost Bauchi in 2019 due to miscalculation of the former administration – APC Chieftain
By Mohammed Kaka Misau
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state, Alhaji Suraja Dada has revealed that the party lost the governorship seat to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP in 2019 due to miscalculation of the immediate past government of Barr. Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar.
Alhaji Dada who was recently appointed as member, governing council of the newly established federal college of education Jama’are in Bauchi state made this known in an exclusive interview with Baushe Daily Times yesterday.
“Everybody that knows the happenings in Bauchi is aware that the APC is very strong, APC is on ground. In fact what happened in 2019 that brought about the government of PDP in Bauchi was just a miscalculation of the former administration”, he said.
Alhaji Dada added, “because APC has always been very strong in Bauchi, the Buhari factor has been the strongest in Bauchi more than any other state. So, I believe APC is still very strong in Bauchi state”.
According to him, “with capable hands that are vying for the office of the governor, I am confident that anyone of them that gets the nomination to fly the APC ticket will surely defeat the current government of PDP in 2023”.
Commenting on the rate of unemployment in the state, Dada described it as very pathetic, adding that the youth are in dire need of employment.
“Our youth are in dire need of employment but unfortunately we can see that the jobs are not available. So, there has to be a calculated attempt, it’s not something that when the government comes it will just sit down and start promising to provide employment, it has to be planned, something that will come with a blueprint”, he maintained.
“The APC of which I am a member and a stakeholder, we have to sit down and come up with a blueprint of reducing the number of unemployment to the bearest minimum because like I said earlier, it is very pathetic”, the APC chieftain said.
Alhaji Dada who described the current unemployment as sitting on a time bomb, decried the youth are roaming the streets without job.
“We cannot afford to continue like that, we have to find solution to that and I believe APC will find solution to that problem. Although, reducing unemployment cannot be done overnight but with a planned action we will tackle it”, he assured.
Alhaji Dada however noted that, “the reality is that we have to tell our youth that the government cannot employ every graduate but can in its wisdom open so many opportunities, most especially in the agricultural sector, among others”.
He said that the APC government at the center is providing a lot of opportunities for the youth, through creating avenues for them to obtain soft loans to enable them become self employed and even create job opportunities.
He also advised the youth to think out of the box so that they can be able to develop themselves more than even been employed by the government, adding that, “if you are self employed, after some years you will come to realize that it is even better for you than working in a government establishment”.
While advising members of the All Progressives Congress to remain united, Dada said that the Party in the state is lucky to have Malam Adamu Adamu, the education minister who is humble and generous as its leader in Bauchi state.
According to him, the Minister is always working hard to ensure that the APC in Bauchi state is fully strengthened, adding that all the members of the party need to be patient, unite themselves with a view to ensuring the victory of the party in 2023 and beyond.
Raja Dada who served as a special assistant to former governor Ahmad Adamu Mu’azu of Bauchi from 1999-2007 has once contested for the post of house of representatives for Gamawa federal constituency.
He also contested for Bauchi North senatorial district under the APC platform in the year 2015.
Dada who was recently appointed as member of the governing council of the newly established Federal College of Education Jama’are in Bauchi state commended president Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of education Malam Adamu Adamu for finding him worthy for the job.
“I believe for somebody to be nominated for the position in any institution means Mr President through the Minister must have had confidence in my ability to at least contribute to the development of the institution. And lucky enough, this same institution is located within the same environment I came from”, he said.
“I believe I should be able to put in my best in seeing to the development of that institution to the benefit of the entire people of Nigeria, and Bauchi state in particular”, Alhaji Dada concluded.
