Bauchi lifts suspension of Emir of Misau

Bauchi State Government has lifted the suspension of the Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman, and reinstated him back to his throne.

The Emir was suspended in the wake of a communal clash over land between farmers and herders which claimed 11 lives in the area about four months ago.

An administrative panel that investigated the clashes indicted the monarch for dereliction of duty which fuelled and escalated the fatal crisis in his domain and had recommended that the Emir be warned, made to tender a written apology and be recalled back to the throne.

The Emir was called back from the suspension on Monday via a letter lifting the suspension which was presented to him in his Palace in Misau by the Secretary to the State Government, Sabiu Mohammed Baba in the company of the Chief of Staff, Government House, Ladan Salihu.

With the lifting of the suspension, the Emir has resumed rulership of the Misau Emirate which is made up of two local government of Misau and Dambam LGAs.

Speaking after receiving the letter, the Emir reiterated his loyalty to the state government saying that his subjects who are peace loving will continue to live in peace with each other and support in promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.

When contacted, Senior Special Assistant to Govenor Bala Mohammed on Media, Mukhtari Gidado, told Daily Trust that the emir had tendered the written apology to the state government as recommended by the investigative panel before his reinstated back to his throne.
