Bauchi LP’s house of assembly candidate pledges to initiate legislation to revive education

Labour Party’s house of assembly candidate for Zungur, Galambi and Miri constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Elisha Yakubu has promised to initiate legislation towards enhancing educational system as well as youth empowerment if elected in 2023.

The Labour assembly candidate who made the promise while addressing newsmen shortly after a town hall meeting with the National Executives of the party in Bauchi on Tuesday, said the aim of the meeting was to unite all the party members to speak with one voice before the commencement of campaigns.

Hon Yakubu who commended the state and the national leadership of the Labour Party for giving them the opportunity to contest under it, promised to come up with strategies that will move the party forward.

Speaking on the presidential candidate of the the party, His Excellency Peter Obi and his running mate, Senator Datti, Hon. Yakubu pointed out that their track record of achievements is enough credentials to convince all Nigerians to vote them in 2023 regardless of party, ethnic or religious inclination.

Hon Yakubu explained that his aspiration for the position was borne out of his strong desire to rekindle the educational system for the younger generation and also to contribute his quota to the development of the constituency.

“As a youth, l do not claim that I have all solutions to all the problems bedeviling our constituency, but I have that determination to create an enabling environment for teachers to carry out their statutory duties”, he said.

According to him, by doing so, the students would be motivated into the citadel of learning.

“I will also incorporate my fellow youths into the political kingdom as one of the ways to salvage this country, for we have no other country apart from Nigeria”, the house of assembly aspirant said.

Hon Yakubu said in his as ordinary Nigerian, he has embarked on several humanitarian services to ease the workload of parents and also to motivate students.

Some of the humanitarian services rendered according to him include provision of free school bags to various schools within and outside his constituency, promising to lift more burden on parents if elected.

Hon Yakubu who Solicited for support from the party faithfuls and the constituents, said he would embark on several community projects to generate funds towards subsidizing enrolment fees for students and support the welfare of men and women in Zungur, Galambi and Miri constituency.

“It is axiomatic to say that the educational system is the only sector that can diversify the country’s economy when it is prioritized. I believe that if the society must experience development and modernisation, it must begin from the educational system that is of good quality which will in turn, lead to political stability”, he said.

While describing education as the ‘Mother’ of all professions, Hon Yakubu regretted that education has been surviving on ‘life saving machine’ due to the lackadaisical attitude of key stakeholders which has impacted negatively on the country’s economy.

“It will be a waste of funds and resources if we continue to build infrastructures without funding the sector to produce patriotic citizens to sustain it”, he said.
