Bogoro LG Chairman Cautions Traditional Rulers, Residents Against Harboring Strangers With Questionable Character

The Executive Chairman, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Hon. Iliya Habila has warned traditional rulers and the people of the area against harboring people with questionable character in the area.


Honourable Habila gave the warning while addressing traditional and religious leaders, among other stakeholders in Bogaro on Wednesday.


The Executive Chairman warned against tolerating acts that are capable of tempering with peace and security in their respective domains.


He further warned the traditional rulers and leaders of Fulani groups against harboring of strangers whose mission and purpose were not known in the area. 


According to him, Bogoro which is currently peaceful is surrounded by neighboring areas that have serious security challenges, hence the need to be cautious in entertaining strangers.


He said of late, following pressures from the neighboring Local Governments and Plateau, bad elements have been making attempts to come to the area which is detrimental to peace and security.


The Executive Chairman warned the traditional rulers against accepting or hosting of any stranger without subjecting him to thorough scrutiny by the authorities in consultation with Fulani leaders (Ardos).


On the relationship between farmers and herders, especially during the rainy season, the chairman advised them against taking laws into their hands in case of any misunderstanding.


Hon. Iliya Habila while advising the farmers against blocking cattle routes, appealed to the herders not to temper with farmlands in order in order to have harmonious relationship among them.


He also enjoined parents to monitor the activities of their wards as part of efforts to ensure peace and security in the area.
The Chairman commended the three district heads of Bogoro, Boi and Lusa as well as security agents in the area for their prompt report and mediation in crises.

In their separate remarks, the village heads, hamlet heads, security agents, representatives of youth tribal groups, religious groups expressed appreciation to the local government Chairman for providing the avenue for the interaction.
