College of Legal Misau Alumni to hold re-union meeting after Eid-el-Kabir Sallah

Preparations are on top gear for the Alumni of the A.D Rufai College of Legal and Islamic studies to hold its first re-union meeting in Bauchi.

The Chairman of the Alumni, Bakoji Zubairu Hamma who disclosed this in an interview with our Corresspondent yesterday, said the event is been planned to hold immediately after Eid-el-Kabir Sallah festivities.

“We want to convey this meeting immediately after Sallah, we assumed that by that time, our members, especially the Judges among us would have been on holiday”, he said.

“Now, we intend to hold our general meeting which will attract all members who graduated from 1980 to date, that’s around 40 something years of the college’s establishment”, he added.

Bakoji Zubairu Hamma, the Chairman of the Alumni who is now a Lecturer in College said that the event will also have all the lecturers of the college in attendance.

The Alumni Chairman said they had wanted to organize a reception for Chief Judge of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad on his appointment but was prevented by the Corona pandemic.

“We are preparing in our capacity as old students of this institution, we want to hold a meeting between we, the old students and the lecturers. The meeting was initiated by CJN, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, he is the one that is spearheading it after we met him sometime ago in Abuja”, Zubairu said.

According to the Chairman of the Alumni, the CJN told them during the meeting that it was timely for them to hold the meeting to enable them put heads together and discuss for the development of the institution and for their unity as old students.

Zubairu said: “this is going to be our first meeting. By the grace of God, during the occasion, we are going to hold the meeting for two days and on Friday we are going hold Jumaat prayers in the premises of the college”.

The Chairman of the association also hinted that, a dinner is going hold at night for the participants before the general meeting the following day for the members to exchange pleasantries with one another.

He said, “during the event, speeches will be delivered, we will give gifts to some of our colleagues after which we will dine and wine before the closure of the occasion”.

The Alumni Chairman who said a planning committee has been appointed to carry out specific tasks, called for support from the old students of the institution and the lecturers since the establishment of the college in order hold the event successfully.

He urged the host communities of the college to take ownership of the institution so as to safeguard it for the overall benefit of both the communities and the state in general.
