Misau Health college holds retreat for staff on leadership skills

The management of Misau College of Health Science and Technology in Bauchi state has conducted a one day capacity building retreat for teachers to impart leadership skills in them.
Presenting a paper titled “Strategic Planning in Education Administration”, Dr. Saleh Garba, harps on the need for application of rational and systematic analysis to the educational development with the aim of making education respond to the need and goal of the students.
According to him, there is also the need for proper planning that focuses on Educational Program to be able to identify the Educational needs and the direction which Education should take.
Dr. Garba while maintaining that there was the need for strategic planning for education to move in line with the dynamism of society and human endeavour, said education can be for a specific identified target or goal.
Speaking in an interview with our Corresspondent, the Registrar of the college, Mallam Ahmed Mohammed Sabo said that the retreat which was conducted on Saturday said presentation of papers were done.
He said that the retreat which had “Team Building” as its main theme said a reflection was conducted during which the administrators of the college presented in details how they operate the Institution, starting from recruitment of staff and admission of students as well as its day-to-day operations.
“Papers were presented, one by Dr. Bala on the role of team building in leadership. He spoke on how to form essential teams in Institution and how to operate the teams. He also talked on the issue of communication, relationship among the team members and other essential things which has to do with skills of leadership in team building”, he said.
“The second paper was titled “Strategic Planning in education administration”, was presented by Dr. Saleh Garba. He was able to lead us to understand how to plan the activities of an educational institution”, the Registrar said.
According to him, Dr. Garba who even introduced participants to the main types of educational planning that includes, systematic, short term, long term and other forms of planning which he took time to explain in details to their understanding.
“He tried to make is view planning as a very essential ingredients for the development of an institution and we witnessed the presence of emir of Misau His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ahmed Sulaiman who commended the proprietor of the college for establishing the college.
The Registrar while adding that the Emir also commended the proprietor and the management team of the college for organizing the training session for the staff, applauded Dr. Bala for carrying out the lecture.
“Among the attendees, were Dr. Hamma Bashar of A.D Rufai college of education, Legal and General Studies and also Musa Muhammad, the former principal Government Comprehensive secondary school and the former Director Bauchi state higher education, the Provost of Misau College of Health Science and Technology, the proprietor and other dignitaries”, the Registrar said.
