No organization can function without dedicated officers- Clergyman
By Samuel Luka,Bauchi
The President, North-East Baptist Conference, Reverend Musa Likita has observed that no organization can function effectively without dedicated officers who are expected to perform the various functions of the organization.
The Clergyman made the observation at the induction service of Rev Raphael A Adetunmibi as the Moderator of Antioch Baptist Association on Saturday at the Amazing Grace Baptist Church, Maiduguri road, Bauchi.
He said, in selecting those who will be in charge of the affairs of the Church, care should be exercised to look for those who are willing and adjudged competent to perform specific functions that are associated with the life of the church.
The Conference President added that, the church should have in its data bank the qualifications, competencies and potentials of its members.
Reverend Musa stressed that such data bank, obtained through a survey of the membership and upgraded from time to time, is imperative because there are many people in the church whose expertise is not known and are thereby left unutilized for the glory of God.
Rev Musa Likita further said, such information on Church members will enable the Church to enlist more members for service.
He added that the Church must not ignore the need to appreciate the many non-remunerated officers of the Church without whom the Church cannot function adequately.
He said that many of them spend their time and money in the course of service and are convinced that they are serving God and not men which is in accordance with the biblical admonition.
He quoted the words of Apostle Paul in the Bible which reads thus: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving”
According to him, “be that as it may, one way of giving these volunteer workers appropriate recognition is to publicly induct them (Colossians 3:23-24). More so, their responsibilities are selfless and free of charge”.
The Conference President charged the new Moderator to ensure that he led the people in accordance with the biblical injunctions because according to him, that is the only way to move the entire Church ahead.
In his acceptance speech, the new Moderator of Antioch Baptist Association, Rev Raphael A. Adetunmibi assured that he will do his best in collaboration with other members of the EXCO to move forward positively.
He assured that the new leadership will build on the positive records of the past leadership so that the Association will remain leader of the North-East Baptist Conference.
Raphael Adetunmibi however, solicited the support and cooperation of all members of the Association to enable him succeed.
