Subsidy removal: Gov Bala commissions 30 new buses to address transportation hitches

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has on Tuesday commissioned 30 new buses in order to ease the hardship been faced by commuters following the removal of subsidy by the federal government.
Bala Mohammed who was speaking during the Commissioning ceremony of the buses at the Yankari Transport Corporation office hinted that the state government will also provide a number of public transport including tricycles and commercial motorcycles to creat job opportunities for the citizens as well as address transportation challenges.
Bala, also a member of presidential parliativive distribution committee acknowledged that citizens across the country are experiencing difficulties, hence the move to partner with an indigenous firm which procures the buses at the sum of N480m to be settled at N20m monthly within two years.
The governor added that the move was to create job opportunities and reduce the cost of inter-state transportation which is not affordable to to many citizens.
Earlier in his welcoming remarks, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Aliyu Sulaiman commended the state government for investing in critical sector of the economy, urging the management of the transport company to ensure judicious usage of the buses.
