Bauchi Gov’t to partner UMZA international farms limited in Agricultural sector in the state. – Sani Adamu Hassan

Bauchi state Governor Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has expressed his administration’s commitment to partner with investors to boost the agricultural sector.

The state Governor made the statement when he received the Chairman UMZA international farms limited Muhammad Abubakar Maifata on a courtesy call at the government house Bauchi.

Bala Mohammed said his administration has in place a robust agricultural policy aimed at increasing food security in the state.

He added that Bauchi is one of the agricultural state in the country, hence the need for farmers and herders to compliment each other by living in peace and harmony for every body to benefit from one another.

Bala Mohammed expressed his worry to the federal government that Bauchi state was not benefitting from the CBN loan Initiative of anchor borrowers program, taking into cognizance that the state is one of the rice producing state in the country.

Bala Muhammad also said that his administration will ensure effective exploitation of the sate’s agricultural potentials.

Earlier in his address, the Chairman UMZA international farms limited Muhammad Abubakar Maifata said that they where in the state to explore areas of investment by committing over 38 billion naira in Agriculture especially in rice and sugar cane production.

Muhammad Maifata said UMZA is one of the biggest rice mill company in west Africa where it produced over two thousand tons of rice per annum.

He therefore urged the state government to allocate 10 thousand hectares of land to the company for it takeoff, which according to him it will provide over 20 thousand jobs opportunity to the people of the state.
