ASUP ATAP Elects Nazif Pali As Chairman

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP) chapter has elected Nazif Abba Pali of the Department of Mass Communication as its new chairman.

Others elected during the election include Auwal Abdullahi as Vice Chairman, Musa Ibrahim as General Secretary, Ibrahim Sule Fanti as Assistant General Secretary, Comrade Sama’ila Ali as Treasurer, Engr Muhammad Sa’id Saleh as Financial Secretary, Aminu Azare as Publicity Secretary and Mahmud Sa’idu Badara as Welfare Secretary.

Announcing the results of the election which took place on Thursday, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee Malam Musa Yakubu said that Malam Nazif scored 114 votes to defeat Malam Rabiu Ibrahim who scored 100 votes and Malam Sa’idu Ali who scored 85 votes.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and his colleagues for their trust in him by voting him to lead the union.

He promises to come up with a united leadership that will design and implement policies and initiatives that will take the union and the Polytechnic to the higher level of development.

Malam Nazif Abba Pali also called on his opponents to join hands with him to provide positive leadership to the union, saying all of them are winners in the election.

In his valedictory speech, the outgoing Chairman Malam Dahiru Musa Abdullahi thanked members of the union for giving him and his colleagues a mandate to serve for two terms and supported them to work unhindered.

He also commended Governor Bala Muhammad for restoration of promotion implementation of staff, appointing Rector from and within the staff and construction of roads in the main Campus in Wuntin Dada.
