Bauchi Health Commissioner inspects facilities at FMC Misau

The Honourable Commissioner Dr Adamu Umar Sambo Bauchi state Ministry of Health on Saturday inspected facilities at the newly established Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Misau local government area of the state.
Dr Adamu Umar Sambo was taken round the facilities of the General hospital Misau which has been marked for upgrade to the status of Federal Medical Centre, alongside the newly appointed Medical Director of the hospital in preparation for handing over of the facility to the federal government.
The Commissioner Adamu explained that they were at Misau General Hospital, the new site of the federal medical center on a routine visit.
“I Came with my team from the ministry of health Bauchi and the team of the hospital management board for a routine visit that we normally do”, he said.
The Commissioner said that the General hospital Misau has been earmarked for conversion to federal medical center.
According to him, the aim of the visit was just to conclude on the issue of inventory of the hospital, the type of structures they have, the facilities, the human resource and the landed area of the hospital to be able to get informed decision on how to make the transition a smooth one, from being a state government property to federal government property.
The Commissioner further explained that they are working to have comprehensive analysis of what is on ground and how the Misau general hospital can be upgraded.
While stating that for the mean time, the FMC is going to serve the people of Misau, the Commissioner observed that most of the secondary services that are rendered at the general hospital can still be rendered at the FMC for now while the government decide on what next to do.
“We’ll see what can be done about the possibility of having another general hospital in Misau”, he said.
The Commissioner called on the people of Misau to appreciate God for making it possible to have the FMC in their area as well as appreciate Governor Bala Mohammed who attracted the hospital to Misau.
“The Governor has stood his ground to ensure that this hospital is actualize in Misau. Let them also thank the minister of health and social welfare, Prof Ali Pate who accepted that the plea of the governor should be granted for the facility to be upgraded to the status of a federal medical center”, he added.
The Commissioner also disclosed that there is a good collaboration between the governor of Bauchi and the minister for the General hospital Misau to be upgraded to FMC.
On his part, the new MD of the hospital, Dr. Rufai Abdul Dachi said, after going round the general hospital, they observed that the place is very good for conversion to federal medical center because it has adequate space.
“I am very comfortable when I saw the place for our take off and we are even able to get the starting Secretariat, I have an office there and my Director of Admin also has an office. As far as I am concerned the place is okay and we are really ready to kickstart”, the MD explained.
Dr. Dachi who noted that work has started, declared that FMC Misau has come to stay, adding that his director of Admin is already at the hospital.
He called on the host communities to reason with the management of the hospital and to support them in taking the hospital from its present status to where it will reach to serve the purpose it is established.
“I call for their cooperation and understanding, we are starting small but we have the commitment to expand it and to make it big, people should cooperate with us. We are ready to give them the best of services, our motto is service with diligence, so we are ready to give the best for the people of Misau and the environs”, he assured.
The MD who expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the hospital in Misau, also commended the health minister, Prof Ali Pate for championing the project.
Dr. Dachi who also acknowledged the Contribution of Governor Bala Mohammed to the establishment of the hospital in Misau, noted that Bala Mohammed worked tirelessly to ensure its actualization.
“I equally commend my dear brother, the Commissioner of health who remained very committed to the cause of the hospital, we want to appreciate, including all other stakeholders that played different roles to make sure that the establishment of the FMC in Misau becomes a reality”, he said.
