The Vice Chancellor of the Bauchi state owned University, Sa’idu Zungur University (SAZU), Professor Fatima Tahir has declared that the management under her watch is committed to deploying adequate resources towards building the capacity of the staff and researchers for research works that are impactful to the society.
Professor Fatimah Tahir who ruled out compromise on the part of the management of the university in the area of academic excellence, maintained that the institution will not settle for being perceived as “easy” but will strive for excellence in all aspects of its operations.
She was speaking recently during a workshop for the academic staff on Writing Grant-Winning Concept Notes and Proposals organized by Centre of Excellence for Research and Innovation in collaboration with the university.
“We don’t want students subscribing to our University because we are easy, we want students to subscribe to our university because we are excellent”, she said.
According to the Vice Chancellor, one of the ways that the university can prove to the world that it is excellent is by the excellent research work that comes out of the university.
As contained in a press statement from the desk of the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Auwal Hassan, “Professor Tahir’s statement marks a significant shift in the university’s approach to academic standards”.
She noted that the institution is committed to producing research that is impactful, innovative, and relevant to the needs of society.
The VC noted that the university’s commitment to excellence is expected to elevate its reputation and attract top talent from around the world.
Professor Tahir who highlighted research as a key area of focus for the university, said Sa’adu Zungur University will invest heavily in research infrastructure and capacity building to ensure that its researchers have the resources they need to produce high-quality work.
She added that the investment is expected to yield groundbreaking research that addresses real-world problems and creates economic and social value.
The Vice Chancellor noted that students will benefit from rigorous and challenging courses that prepare them for success in their chosen fields.
“The university’s focus on academic rigor is expected to produce graduates who are equipped to make a positive impact in society”, the press statement said.
It explained that Professor Tahir’s statement is a call to action for the university community to strive for excellence in all aspects of their work, saying that the university’s commitment to excellence will require hard work, dedication, and a willingness to embrace new ideas and approaches.
