We’ve succeedes in migrating from manual to electronic record keeping – FTH Gombe CMD

The Chief Medical Director (CMD), Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, Dr. Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi has disclosed that the hospital management under his stewardship has succeeded in migrating the record keeping system of the hospital from Manual to electronic.

Dr. Abdullahi who made this known while speaking to newsmen yesterday, pointed out that the new development has addressed incidences of missing folders, handling mutilated patients records, and reduced patients waiting time, increased patients and hospital staff satisfaction among others.

Dr. Abdullahi who stated that since the assumption of office in 2021, the management of the hospital has succeeded in migrating the operation of the hospital from Manual to electronic, described it as one of his major achievements.

“When you come here now, the medical records are done electronically, from entry to the exit and that has enhanced the effective healthcare governance in the hospital” this great effort is in lined with the Renewed Hope Ministerial four point agenda of the Federal Ministry of Health which is being champion by our Honorable Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Muhammad Ali Pate” he said.

Dr. Abdullahi added: “it has reached a point now where all healthcare professionals have limited access to the required patients record in performing their duties. So the issue of confidentiality has also increased in the hospital, there is no more issue of missing folders, mutilated folders are no longer there, amongst others.”

“I came in as the Chief Medical Director with a vision of transforming the institution to be truly Patient Centred and Staff Friendly, which I sincerely believed this will provide a very robust effective and efficient clinical services, training manpower for health and medical research.”

He said that he is also making the hospital a hub for training manpower for health as well as conducting reasonable research that would impact the lives of Nigerians.

“In order to achieve my vision, we realized the need to create the enabling environment which has to do with conducive infrastructure and at the same time providing the right medical equipments for the services”, he said.

“We also envisaged the need to make the welfare of staff as paramount and very important, staff training and retraining , reasonable staff numerical strength and payment of outstanding arrears, among others.

He disclosed that the first thing he did to actualize his mandate as CMD was able to organize an excellent management team with a number of committees.

The CMD who commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya of the state for his laudable achievements in the health sector.

He observed that the Governor has been carrying alone the management of the hospital in his Healthcare delivery initiative in the state.

The CMD also described the existing relationship between the host community and the management of the Hospital as cordial and symbiotic, adding that the management and staff of the hospital are appreciative of the cooperation and support of the people of Gombe state.

Dr. Abdullahi while appreciating the Emir of Gombe for his fatherly role, recalled that the Emir has always appreciated the management of the hospital for their effective and efficient services in the state.
