Bauchi FOMWAN Shines In Educational Activities

A former Grand Khadi in Bauchi, Abdullahi Yakubu Marafa has commended the Bauchi chapter of Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) for excelling in educational activities among all the federation chapters across the country.
Speaking at the State FOMWAN delegation reception in Bauchi, shortly after their arrival from Abuja where they won a trophy on Educational Activities, Marafa described the feat as not only for the association but entirely for the state government and its people.
It could be recalled that FOMWAN in Bauchi under its education programme has been training out of school children, especially girl-child and returning them to classes, skills acquisition training, and other extra-curricular activities aimed at developing the children in making them useful citizens of the country.
Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu Marafa described FORMWAN skills acquisition training as laudable towards putting the children on entrepreneurship to sustain their livelihood and making them self-reliance.
Marafa noted that the era of pursuing education for white-collar jobs had gone for good or worst, hence the entrepreneurship skills being infused into the children is in tandem with government’s policy of building the capacity of up-coming generations for a better society.
He described education as the foundation upon which every human endeavor rest, and counseled FOMWAN Bauchi to always liaise with the State Ministry of Education with a view to boost the morale of younger generations to nationhood.
The Bauchi FOMWAN Amirah, A’ishatu Ibrahim Kilishi who led the state association to Abuja for the annual conference, recalled that the federation national team was in Bauchi last April to assess the state chapter educational activities, an event that the chapter the legal teeth to win a trophy.
Kilishi said, “Sometimes in April this year, FOMWAN national sent a team to all the state chapters to assess their educational activities. After all the analysis, they realized Bauchi as the State that is really working on education, and this is the genesis of the award”.
She explained that it was during the Abuja national conference that Bauchi was adjudged as the 1st State I carrying out educational activities, saying “So it has really made us proud. They showed us that we were in the right track, and we promised to continue what we are doing, and by the grace ofGod, Bauchi state will keep this trophy”.
Hajiya A’isha Kilishi revealed that FOMWAN in Bauchi had within the past two years enrolled 5, 000 out of school children, out of whom 1864 were successfully returned to JSS1, and for the just concluded quarter enrolment, has 380 out of which 127 were returned to classes.
Kilishi, while explaining that the state chapter of the association trains out of school children, especially girl-child on quarterly basis, commended all stakeholders in the programme, particularly the Education Committee, Teachers, PTA, and the communities in which the training is being conducted for their support which culminated to the successes.
