Court orders remand of 7 students over alleged killing of friends in Kwara

A magistrate Court in Ilorin, Kwara state has ordered the remand of seven suspects for allegedly killing a colleague, Ridwan Ajibiye during a cult clash in Malete.
The seven suspects include; Vuctor Okpara, Zubair Baba, Samuel Ogundele, Stephen Oluwafemi, Oyebanji Sadiq, Oladipupo Mukaram and Salau Joshua, aged from 22 to 26 years.
The suspects were changed with criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, belonging to secret cult and secret societies and culpable homicide.
The offences contravened sections 6(B) and 27(IXC) of the Robbery and firearms (special provision) Act CAP R11 LFN 2006, section 221 of the panel code law punishable under section 14 of secret cult and secret societies prohibition law 2016.
Barrister Toyin Onalolapo, the defence counsel urged the court to grant them bail.
However, in her decision, Magistrate O. A. Adeniyi ordered that the suspects be remanded at the correctional centre and adjourned the case to February 24, 2022 for further mention.
