Parents urged to guard children against exposure to bad films, videos

The National Film and Video Sensors Board (NFVCB) Northeast Zonal office Bauchi has appealed to parents to ensure that their children and wards are not exposed to bad films and videos that can corrupt their minds.

The Head of Administration of the NFVCB Northeast zone, Mr. Monday G. Kopyakka made the call during a one day media literacy campaign in Bauchi yesterday.

The media campaign themed: ‘capacity building in censorship and classification/hate speech’ was held at the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP) Bauchi.

Kopyakka explained that the Board was established to checkmate illegal and bad films and videos among the public to ensure good citizenry in the country .

He further called on the public to download and watch films that can positively impact in their lives rather than viewing the bad ones which can destroy their good moral behavior.

Kopyakka added that parents should rise up to their perantal responsibilities by always been watchful over their children and wards especially when they distanced themselves from people watching films.

On her part, the zonal Co-ordinator, Northeast zone, Mrs. Sangari Rabi Muhammed called for attitudinal change among youths especially rural areas.

He observed that youths from the rural areas have the tendency of spreading trending films and videos among the public hence the need to avoid viewing any film that can easily destroy their future.

Mrs. Sangari Muhammed added that her board is targeting to mobilize such campaign across twenty local government areas of Bauchi state.

She noted that the board intends to carry out the campaign in some schools and public places in order to sanitize the films and videos from illegal practices that can geopardise the lives of the public especially the youths who are the backbone of every society.
