Sang communal clash, LP dissociates self, commends Gov Bala’s prompt action

The Bauchi state Chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has distanced itself from the recent bloody Communal clash in Sang community of Bogoro local government area of the state.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s Secretariat on Monday, the Chairman of the party in Bauchi, Barrister Hussaini Saraki exonerated the party and its Presidential candidate from been the purpose behind the skirmishes.
“In response to the recent communal clash that occurred in Sang village of Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, the Labor Party (LP) through its state chapter would like to distance itself and its presidential candidate from those politicizing the crisis”, he said.
The party Chairman who described the politicization of the crisis as unfortunate, decried that some evil people are trying to link it to the fact that Bogoro, Tafawa Balewa,
and Dass voted for LP and not PDP and hence the attack on them.
“The LP strongly condemns any form of violence and does not support or condone any action that threatens the peace and security of citizens”, the LP said.
Barrister Saraki noted that the LP believes in peaceful coexistence and encourages all its members and supporters to embrace such value.
The LP which noted that the PDP-led government in Bauchi State cannot
be held responsible for the crisis, blamed trouble makers for making the suggestion just to spoil the good relationship existing between the state government and the LP.
“The LP believes in constructive engagement and
collaboration with all political parties and governments for the development and progress of the state and the nation at large”, Barrister Saraki pointed out.
The LP Chairman recalled that Governor
Bala Mohammed is one of the few governors in the country that
wholeheartedly welcomed the LP’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during his visit to Bauchi State in the buildup to the 25th February 2023
presidential election.
He said that Governor’s gesture indicated his administration’s commitment to promoting democracy and peaceful coexistence among different political parties.
“So, it makes no sense that some nefarious people are attributing the crisis to an act of pay back to the communities for not voting for PDP during the presidential election”, the Bauchi LP Chairman fumes.
While urging all parties involved in the crisis to exercise restraint and allow the security agencies do their work by bringing the perpetrators to justice, Saraki called on the government to take
appropriate measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
