Bala commissions Dialysis machine, other hospital equipments for Specialist Hospital
……warn against inefficient services

Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed has commissioned dialysis and diagnostic equipments for the state owned Specialist Hospital, warning never to condone inefficiency in health care delivery.
The Governor while speaking at the commissioning ceremony yesterday, said the procurement of the equipments is considered among the best achievement of his administration.
“It is not about making speeches, I am bringing equipments and at the end of the day there are no services, I will no longer condone this, I know what happened here”, he said.
Governor Mohammed added that the quality of diagnostic is what safe lives which informed the decision of his administration to work very hard and ensure that the equipments are provided.
While lamenting that the specialist hospital has suffered theft, misdemeanor, mismanagement and abuse of authority, Governor Mohammed warned that such practice will no longer be tolerated under his administration.
“We have to arrest it. Sometimes our equipments are taken away and we have to go after them and arrest them. Even television sets in our rooms are taken away, women are dying on their beds and they are ignored”, he said.
Mohammed who reminded the speaker of the state assembly that the oversight of the specialist hospital is in his hands, enjoined him to be visiting the hospital every week, pledged on his part to carryout weekly meetings with the management of the hospital, Commissioner of health and all the heads of health institutions in the state to improve health care services across the state.
The Governor who said that the specialist hospital has only four consultants, announced that an Initiative is about to be put in place where the government will have retention of its medical personnel.
“We have only four consultants here, but thank God, with our collaboration with teaching hospital, we are getting consultants to come and assist but we want to have our own, we want to have medical officers from this hospital, this hospital must be the best in the North East, I will not take second position”, he vowed.
Earlier Speaking, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Bauchi Specialists Hospital, Abdulkarim Garba Mairiga thanked the Governor for providing the needed equipments for the hospital.
The CMD who pointed out that the equipments are going to help not only the people of Bauchi state but even neighboring states, said, already, the Radiology Department has been doing well, attracting patients from neighboring states and the Teaching Hospital in the state.
Prof Mairiga who further expressed gratitude to the Governor for rendering other assistance including renovations to the hospital, which he said has totally changed the hospital, pledged proper care and maintenance of the equipments.
