Bauchi Rep member Ibrahim Tanko pays NECO fees for over 1,000 students

The House of Representatives member for Shira/Giade federal constituency, Hon Sani Ibrahim Tanko has disbursed the sum of N30 million to over 1,000 students to enable them to sit for the June 2024 NECO examination.

The lawmakers who stated this while flagging off the disbursement of the funds in the Shira local government area of Bauchi state on Monday said the gesture was to assist the beneficiaries— mostly less privileged members of the constituency.

Hon Sani appealed to parents and the students to consider the gesture as his token of gratitude to his constituency and enjoined the parents to always pay attention to the educational needs of their children.

He also advised the beneficiaries of the gesture to ensure that they read their notebooks very well to pass the examination.

“We paid for the registration of 581 from Shira local Government while 472 students from Giade local Government”, he said.

According to him, education is the backbone of society, hence the need for collective responsibility to guide and counsel the children on the need to be educated both in Islamic and Western education.

On his part, Prof Nasiru Murtala Disina called on the students to read day and night to pass the examination.

He also appreciated the effort of Hon. Sani to take responsibility for parents by paying over N30 million for the NECO fees.

A stakeholder in the Northern zone, Alhaji Falalu Attah appealed to the students to pay attention and marry their books to pass the examination successfully.

He also stated that only three national assembly members from Bauchi state could be singled out for their outstanding performances.

“Only three national assembly members that we can say we are proud with anywhere in the country because they consider their constituency first have been bringing dividends of democracy to the good people of their constituencies”, he said.

While appreciating the performing national assembly members for a good job, the stakeholders, enjoined them not to be distracted by the antics of their colleagues who are not performing.
