Bauchi Speaker urges farmers to take advantage of Governor Bala’s subsidy on fertilizer to improve yield

Speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman has urged farmers to take advantage of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad’s policies on agriculture in order to expand their farming activities and improve yield.
He made the call while delivering goodwill message during the launching of the 2023 Farming Season and Sale of Fertilizer performed by the Executive Governor of Bauchi State Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area, today.
The Speaker who said the subsidized fertilizer provided for farmers by the State Government will greatly improve agriculture in the State, calls on farmers to make best use of the Government gesture.
He commended the Governor for subsidizing the price of fertilizer and for intimating and consulting the traditional, political and opinion leaders as well as representatives of the people before coming up with the price of fertilizer in the State.
“I commend His Excellency the Executive Governor of Bauchi State His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad Kauran Bauchi for always doing the right thing at the right time. In fact, I once again congratulate the people of Bauchi sate for having Kauran Bauchi as their Governor for the second term.” The Speaker added.
He assured that the type of cooperation the 9th Assembly gave the Governor will also be given by the 10th Assembly when inaugurated.
The Speaker also called on the Government, farmers and all other stakeholders in the agricultural sector not to allow middlemen to hijack the fertilizer for their selfish interests.
Launching the Season and Sales of Fertilizer, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad announced that the 50Kg NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer will sold at N15,000 against the cost of production of N17,800.
While assuring that the State Government has put all modalities in place to provide adequate fertilizer and all farming implements to meet the growing demands by farmers ain the State, the Governor said that over two hundred trucks NPK fertilizer, chemicals and vaccines will be procured for this farming season
