Bauchi to distribute grains to cushion the effect of subsidy removal

Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed has hinted that the state government under his leadership will soon commence the distribution of grains to nooks and crannies of the state to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on the citizens.

Bala Mohammed who gave the hint while commissioning 30-eighteen seater buses made available to the state owned transport company, Yankari Transport Corporation on Tuesday, noted that the state government will ensure that succour is provided to ease the hardship occasioned by the subsidy removal.

The Governor who is also a member of the federal government Committee on subsidy removal palliation, said in providing the palliative by his administration in the state, the Emir of Bauchi will be in the forefront to provide the needed leadership that will ensure its success.

“The Emir of Bauchi and Chairman, Council of traditional leaders in the state will be in the forefront to provide leadership so that there will be justice and equity in the distribution of grains that would soon come to the nooks and crannies of Bauchi state”, the Governor said.

Bala Mohammed who said as leaders, they understand the implication of fuel subsidy removal, noted that the state government is highly committed to mitigating the effect to the best of its ability.

Governor Bala commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for gathering all the Governors in Abuja where they agreed that palliation will reach the people up to the local level.

“There will be Provision of big busses for city transportation to carry workers from their houses to places of work, to carry students from one corner of the city to the other and all in towns and villages across Nigeria by the grace of God”, Bala assured.

Bala Mohammed who said that the fuel subsidy was a fraud added, “it is not something that we can play politics with, it is not beneficial to our people and that is why we supported the initiative irrespective of the fact that we are in the opposition”.

According to him, “the removal of subsidy is an excellent initiative and we can see that the new government is starting with a sake of justice and equity, is carrying all of us together and we are going, so far so good, we will support it to succeed so long as it is for the benefit of our people”.

Governor Bala added that the palliative will include infrastructural development and as such, he has met and discussed with the vice president on the need to reconstruct the much dilapidated Bauchi to Gombe road in order to ease movements of commuters for the socio economic development.

“By the grace of Allah, in the next six months the road would be reconstructed so that it will ease transportation between Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe and Adamawa states. I have secured a firmed commitment, we should be proud of this administration under His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is ready to do it”, he assured.

Bala Mohammed said that the commitment of his administration to subsidizing transportation is total, which according to him, informed his administration’s resolve to retool the state owned transport company Yankari Express with 30 new buses.
