Curbing Insecurity: Bauchi First Lady Bags State Police Award

Bauchi First Lady, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed has assured of her total support in the crusade of reducing the menace of sexual and gender based violence in the state to the nearest minimum.
The wife of the governor similarly pledged to continue to support the gender unit and legal department of the state police command for the smooth running of their activities.
Dr. A’isha Bala Mohammed was responding to an Award of honour presented her by the State Police Command Tuesday tagged, “Champion Against Gender-Based Violence” following her persistent and tireless efforts, as well as complementing the command in fighting criminal cases, especially the sexual and gender-based violence in the state.
Dr. A’isha who heads the Committee Against Sexual and Gender-based violence in the state in the past three years, has been working in close collaboration with the Gender unit of police command with the aim of responding to cases of SGBV.
Aisha, first Sarauniya of Bauchi had also donated one Hilux vehicle, some laptops, printers, unlimited power supply devices, packets of AT duplication papers, photo-copying machines to the gender unit and legal department of the Bauchi police command.
Represented by the wife of Secretary to the state government, Hajiya Habiba Ibrahim Kashim, the first lady further assured of her continued support in breaking the culture of silence by building confidence in survivors and relatives of SGBV victims.
She then appealed to the state police commissioner to ensure that all SGBV cases are treated justly and not compromised, and commended the police command for its zeal and dedication towards the fight against gender-based violence in the state.
Presenting the award to the first lady earlier, the state commissioner of police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammed commended the First Lady for her continued supply of logistics to facilitate investigations of sexually-based violence cases.
The commissioner therefore assured that the aforementioned contributions by the Sarauniyar Bauchi will be the potentials to the development of Bauchi, and an unexpected level in both commercial and social factors in the state.
He said, “I want to reassure His Excellency with this kind of leadership you have given us in the past eight months that I assume duty in Bauchi state, we will continue to work 24/7 to ensure that Bauchi state is free from all violence crimes”.
Governor Bala Mohammed was the first recipient of the award event which is the first of its kind since the creation of Bauchi state in 1976, organized by the commissioner of police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammed to ginger stakeholders in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
Governor Bala Mohammed said the award will spur him to do more and requested members of the public to continue to support security agents.
CP Auwal said the award ceremony was put together to recognize and appreciate Governor Bala Mohammed and others for their support to the security agents in the state.
Senator Bala Mohammed, according to the commissioner, bagged the State Police Command Award in recognition of his expended services towards promoting peace and security generally in the state.
All the six Royal Fathers in the state, Emir Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu of Bauchi; Emir Umar Farouk 11 of Katagum; Emir Ahmed Suleiman of Misau; Emir Nuhu Ahmad Wabi 111; Emir Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya of Ningi; and Emir Usman Bilyaminu Othman of Dass have each respectively collected an award for the Reward of Excellence in peace maintenance in his domain, as well as some commissioners, caretaker committee chairmen, and some individuals in the state.
