Don’t squander your food stuff on Christmas, have faith in Jesus – Rev Pam cautions Christians

Barely two weeks to this year’s Christmas festival, the presiding Pastor and Chairman of Local Church Council (LCC) Wuntin Dada Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN), Reverend Pam Chollom has cautioned his subjects against selling or squandering their foodstuffs to celebrate festive period.
Reverend Chollom who gave the caution, enjoined christians across the world to Rededicate their faith to Jesus Christ who he said, came to the world to save mankind from the shackles of sin.
“Don’t squander everything in December while celebrating Christmas, remember that there are other family responsibilities after the Christmas, once you have Jesus Christ in your heart, in your mind, you are okay”, he said.
The Reverend who emphasized the need for christians to celebrate the Christmas within their means and ability, cautioned against extravagant spendings on food and clothing.
“Christmas is barely two weeks to come and as a pastor I have the responsibility of guiding my members through the festival. It is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ which occurred over 2000 years ago, but it’s still fresh in our lives, it is a moment of celebrating our new birth in Christ”, he said.
“There is a recurring tradition which made some people to think that Christmas is period of eating, drinking and wearing of new clothes. Now that we are in a very difficult times, when celebrating, they should know what they have”, he noted.
“I always encourage members to be very careful of what they do in celebration of Christmas, they should not sell their food stuff in preparation of Christmas, they should know that responsibilities abound after Christmas, people should express their joy during Christmas but they should know that it only last for few days while life continues”, Reverend Pam explained.
According to him, Christmas is meaningful in the lives of christian and that the birth of Jesus Christ was prophesied in Isaiah chapter 9:2-7.
The Clergyman who added that the bible made it known that Christ is the prince of peace said knowing the meaning of Christmas by every christian will make them to prepared to stand firm in him regardless of the prevailing challenges of life.
The Rev while cautioning his members against extravagant spendings on food and clothing, urged them to remember that January is coming when they are expected to send their children back to school.
Rev Pam who called on the governments at all levels to roll out initiatives that would empower the citizens, pointed out that the current economic hardship bedeviling the country requires urgent attention to salvage the situation.
He solicited the support of the government in ensuring that life is made bearable to the masses by reviewing some of the policies that are unfavorable to ordinary Nigerians.
“The economy has become bad because means of transportation has become something that is now beyond the poor man. If the government can reduce fuel price those of food items and other essential commodities will come down”, he said.
“It’s now difficult to buy rice which a mudu costs a lot. When you go to market you will see people buying grains in cups, this is very pathetic” he lamented.
The Clergyman who also appealed to the government to extend helping hands to poor and vulnerable households to enable them have something to celebrate Christmas, said there are families who cannot afford the high cost of food.
“I know Governor Bala Mohammed is so passionate about the plight of the citizens, he can help. He used to give and we hope that such generosity will also be done this year”, the Pastor appealed.
