Education: Bauchi commits to full implementation of guidelines, tools for safe schools

Bauchi government has declared its commitment towards full implementation of guidelines and tools to safe schools across the state.

The Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry for Education, Aliyu Babayo stated this at the commencement of training on multi sectoral costed plan of action for appropriate implementation of Safe School Declaration (SSD) Bill 2024.

According to Aliyu Babayo, the education ministry in Bauchi is ready to commence the implementation as soon as the SSD becomes a law in Bauchi state.

Our Correspondent reports that the training holding in Bauchi was organized by a Civil Society Organization (CSO) known as Syndicate in Supporting Women and Children Initiatives (SISWACHI).

The training attracted the presence of relevant stakeholders in the implementation of the project.

Earlier speaking, the Executive Director of the organization, Sadiya Iliyasu, noted that the training is aimed at preparing the line Ministries to achieve the desired safety in schools when the bill finally becomes a law in the state.

She said that the one- day training aimed to bring stakeholders to understand the the various methodologies to adopt in the costed plan.

Sadiya Aliyu further explained that the exercise was in collaboration with Women Advocates Research and Document Center (WARDC) and funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDF).

“As we embark on this journey together, it’s essential to recognize the significance of a structured and well-resourced action plan”, she said.

Iliyasu revealed that the SSD bill has passed second reading in Bauchi state, described it as a milestone, hence the stakeholders meeting to have a clear understanding of how to develop the costed plans using the appropriate methodologies.

The Executive Director of the CSO who stated that a robust framework would guide the organization’s actions and maximize the desired impact, disclosed that the participants were drawn from Ministries of Budget and Economic Planning, security agencies, Humanitarian, Women Affairs and Education.
