Engineering has been described as an avenue to collaborate with other stake holders in achieving sustainable development goals – Salmanu Idris Dajin
Chairman Nigeria Society of Engineers Bauchi state chapter Engr. Abdulmalik Musa Maleka made the statement yesterday in a press conference on the 2021 world engineering day, held at federal Secretariat here in Bauchi.
Engr. Abdulmalik Musa Maleka said, every 4th of March has been set aside for world engineering day by word federation of engineering organization and adopted by UNESCO following a resolution by over 40 country’s including Nigeria.
Engr Abdulmalik said, “the day offer an opportunity to highlight engineers and engineering achievement in our modern world and improve public understanding on how engineering and technology are central to modern life and sustainable development”.
Abdulmalik said, the world engineering day celebration provide avenue on how to collaborate with other stake holders in achieving sustainable development goals especially in developing countries in area of clean water, sanitation, reliable energy and other basic human needs.
Speaking on the challenges Engir. Abdulmalik Musa Maleka said, lack of motivation on domestic products produced by Nigerian engineers can be seen as source of backwordness to the development of the country.
He appeal to the state government for the inclusion of ingenious engineers in every aspect of capital projects like roads being executing in the state.
He therefore, promised to ensure good engineering activities within the state, saying that, the issues quarks in the profession will soon be eradicated for better society.
The theme for this year is Engineering for a healthy planet.
