Former Bauchi APC Guber aspirant, Senator Jika resigns membership weeks after primaries

The Senate committee chairman on police affairs, Senator representing Bauchi Central, Halliru Dauda Jika has announced his resignation from the All Progressive Congress APC.
The senator made his decision known in a letter to the Kafin Madaki ward Chairman of the party in Ganjuwa local government area of Bauchi state late last week.
The decision of the Senate committee chairman on police affairs is coming barely a month after losing in his bid to clinch the party’s Guber ticket ahead of the 2023 general elections.
It can be recall that Senator Jika, alongside others lose out in the May 26, 2023 All Progressive Congress (APC) Gubernatorial election during which, former Chief of Air staff, Ambassador Sadique Baba Abubakar emerged the winner.
In the letter dated 16th June 2022, the senator who did not give reasons for quitting the party, expressed appreciation to all his supporters.
Senator Jika also expressed appreciation to the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for giving him the opportunity to participate in the recent governorship primary election.
He said that his decision to quit the party followed due consultation with political associates, his teaming supporters including women and youths.
“I wish to
notify you of my resignation as a Member of the Party with immediate effect”, Jika told the ward party Chairman.
