Former Governor M.A’s purported endorsement of PDP’s Bala baffles Bauchi APC, party youths demand investigation

The purported endorsement of the incumbent Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state by his predecessor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar during a dinner organized by the state government to honor him for attaining the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has left tongues wagging within the APC.

It was reported that the former Governor while speaking at the dinner, endorsed the second term bid of the present PDP led Bauchi state Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, a news which sounded unpalatable to the APC.

As a result, the All Progressives Congress (APC) youths in Bauchi under the umbrella of Air Marshal Youth Vanguard led by Ismail Musa kicked against the former Governor for his new ‘relationship’ with the incumbent, Bala Mohammed who is seeking re-election.

The Group while addressing journalists on Sunday, accused Abubakar of engaging in anti-party activities by honouring his successor’s invitation to a dinner organized for him.

It can be recall that Governor Bala had on Thursday night held a special dinner for his predecessor, M.A Abubakar on his attainment of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), been the fourth citizen of Bauchi state to get the rank.

While speaking at the event, Abubakar who governed the state under APC commended his PDP successor for recording so many successes in various sectors.

“I must commend him (the Governor) for the giant stride he has achieved in various sectors of the economy of the state. Since the aim is to develop the State, I’m in full support of the developmental strides he has succeeded in achieving and I’m very happy because I don’t have any other state than Bauchi”, M. A was reported as saying.

Air Marshal Youth Vanguard while condemning the ex-governor for honouring and delivery of “his speech where he eulogized the PDP controlled Bauchi State Government, and even called for his re-election, said that the action amounts to a double standard.

Musa who equally accused Abubakar of failing APC as a sitting governor and as such, cannot be trusted by the Party alleged that the former governor and his wife have been paying ostrich which they said has indicated they are not with the Progressives.

Also, the National Youth Caucus of the APC, Bauchi state wing, while berating the action of the former governor at a press conference yesterday called on the National Secretariat of the party to investigate his anti-party activities.

The urged the National Secretariat of the APC to immediately constitute a high powered committee to investigate the actions of the former Governor and impose necessary action on him in line with the constitution of the party.

State Chairman of APC National Youth Caucus, Comrade Alkaseem Nuhu Abdulkadir who addressed the Journalists said that the conduct of the former governor is likely to embarrass or have adverse effect on the Party and bring the Party into hatred, contempt, ridicule and disrepute.

“The offences which are against the Party shall include the following: Article 21.2 A breach of any provision of this Constitution. Anti-Party activities or any conduct, which is likely to embarrass or have adverse effect on the Party or bring the Party into hatred, contempt, ridicule or disrepute”, he said.

“Now in view of the serious nature of the allegations bordering on the violation of the party constitution against His Excellency Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar SAN, and particularly its relevance to the integrity, success as well as reputation of our great Party which is facing serious threat, based on the situation at hand in Bauchi State, we are obliged to request you (i.e the National Executive Committee) to cause steps to be urgently taken in order to save the party from repeat of 2019 Gubernatorial election in the state,” he stressed.

According to him,”The attention of the APC youth caucus has been drawn to the casual politics played by the former APC Governor of Bauchi stat Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar which is unfortunate and a deliberate attempt to cause damage to the party and it candidate” .
