Gov Mohammed inaugurate 500 Road Traffic officers, cautions against corruption, indiscipline

Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed has inaugurated not fewer than 500 cadets and traffic marshals of the Bauchi State Road Traffic Agency (BAROTA).
Speaking at the Passing Out Parade of the trained cadets and traffic marshalls, Governor Mohammed sternly warned the officers against indiscipline, corruption, and abuse of power.
He described them as disciplined and dedicated individuals representing a new generation of leaders committed to improving road safety and traffic management in Bauchi state.
He said that the BAROTA will play a crucial role in addressing road transport challenges, enforcing traffic laws, ensuring safety, and managing traffic flow.
The Governor assured of his administration’s commitment to supporting the agency by providing resources, infrastructure, among other necessary needs.
Governor Mohammed, who hinted at his administration’s plan to expand the workforce to 2,000 personnel, further assured that the personnel will maintain the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and compassion as a guide to their operations.
Bala Mohammed, while cautioning that corruption, unprofessionalism, among others will not be tolerated, however assured the officers of their operational autonomy.
The Governor, who encouraged the officers to remain focused on their responsibilities, directed all the 20 local councils of the state to establish BAROTA Offices within their domains to enhance the Agency’s efficiency.
Governor Mohammed who further called for collaboration between the BAROTA and the local government areas, commended the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ministry of Works and Transport, and the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly for recognizing BAROTA’s pivotal role in promoting road safety and orderliness in Bauchi.
In a welcoming remarks, the Director General (DG) of the Agency, Ahmed Tijjani Baba Gamawa assured that the agency’s road marshals will operate within the ambit of the law.
He said that the training and knowledge impacted in the Road Traffic personnel was of international standard and in compliance with global best practice.
