LG Elections: APGA to conduct primaries in Bauchi, other states soon

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced that the party is set to conduct primary elections in preparation for Elections scheduled to take place in Bauchi and five other states of the federation.

Deputy National Chairman (North) of the party, Adamu Danjuma Musa who made this known while addressing a press conference in Bauchi on Sunday, said they are fully prepared to participate in the local government elections billed to hold in Bauchi, Benue, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi and Kogi states.

According to him, the party under the National leadership of Chief Edozie Njoku is working tirelessly to ensure that APGA participates in all the scheduled local government elections by conducting primary election in line with the Nigerian Electoral Act.

The National Deputy Chairman (North) was flanked by the National Legal Adviser (NLA) Barrister Hamman Buba Ghide, Vice Chairman (VC) North Central Leonard Auta in company of some other Northern States’ Chairmen from Bauchi, Gombe and Plateau States.

“The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is set to conduct its Primary Elections in preparation for the Local Government elections in some States in Northern Nigeria”, he said .

Musa explained that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party has issued guidelines for the conduct of its primaries in preparation for the LG elections across the aforementioned states as scheduled to be held on their respective dates in conformity with the State Independent Electoral Commission Guidelines on the conduct of party primaries.

He added that the timetable and Schedule of activities for the conduct of the 2024 Local Government Primary Elections are obtainable on the SIEC website and as well as the APGA National and States offices.

Musa further informed that the guidelines for the primaries and additional information are available on the Party’s website, and that relevant National Working Committee or National Executive Committee Officials could be contacted.

“Kindly note that the primaries as stated above will be conducted on the basis of One Member One Vote (OMOV); one delegate one vote. No super members or delegates”, he said.

The Party bigwig who explained that all party members are entitled to vote and the party’s Nomination Forms are affordable, assured that the voting will be innovative and convenient.

He further noted that both Physical, online or SMS voting pattern would be adopted, assuring that the votes are going to be secured, monitored by candidates and INEC, and secret as required by the law.

He said that the guidelines for the primaries are open and accessible for transparency such that the members’ list/voters list for each constituency or elective position will be available to all aspirants without discrimination.

Alhaji Musa noted that the Party is committed to expanding the democratic space by providing a level playing field for all aspirants on its platform.

He therefore encouraged members of the public willing to aspire for chairman or Councillorship positions to join the party in order to experience free and fair primaries.
