Man dies after wife stabbed him with knife in Bauchi

A man, Aliyu Mohammad has been reported dead after been stabbed with a knife by his 21 year old wife, Maimuna Suleiman in Bauchi state.
As contained in a crime bulletin released to newsmen yesterday, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Auwal Musa Mohammad, the suspect, Maimuna Suleiman stabbed her husband Aliyu Mohammad with a knife which resulted to his death.
Signed by the Command’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Aminu Gimba Ahmed, the crime bulletin noted that detectives attached with Township Division while acting on credible information on 5th July, 2023 arrested Maimunatu Sulaiman, Aged 21yrs old of Kofar Dumi area of the state over culpable homicide.
“While receiving the information from their end, the detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer immediately rushed to the crime scene at the address and took both the victim and the suspect to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi for medical attention”, the Police said.
The Crime bulletin further explained that reports obtained from medical doctors confirmed that the victim died as a result of an injury sustained on his chest.
According to the Acting Public Relations Officer, the suspect sustained minor bruises on her stomach.
He added; “preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect (Maimuna Suleiman) stabbed her husband Aliyu Mohammad ‘m’ of the same address as a result of an altercation ensued between them on the 5th of July, 20223 at about 1800hrs in their matrimonial home”.
The bulletin said that the suspect confessed to having committed the crime during interrogation.
It said that the Commissioner of Police CP Auwal Musa Mohammad has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet investigation to further unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the victim.
It added that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
