Misau APC: Ahmed Maigari remains our party Chairman in Misau – Party PRO insists

By Mohammed Kaka Misau

The Public Relations Officer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Misau local government area of Bauchi state, Alhaji Shehu Abba Galdimawo, has insisted that Alhaji Ahmed Maigari remains the party Chairman in the local government despite claims of his removal by his Kukadi/Gundari Ward Executive Council.

Alhaji Galdimawo made this known while speaking to newsmen shortly after the Misau local government Executive Council meeting of the APC on Friday.

The comment of the PRO followed a decision by Kukadi/Gundari Ward Executives which announced the removal of the local government party chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Maigari few days ago.

According to him, the Ward EXCO lacks powers to remove the local government party chairman from his position without following due process.

“It’s because they don’t know that the Ward EXCO lacks powers to sack the local government party Chairman, the process is not like before”, he said.

The PRO explained that, for the Ward EXCO to exercise such powers, they have to write to the local government EXCO and the local government EXCO must have to write to the state EXCO.

“It’s the local government EXCO that has the powers to remove the local government party chairman and their decision must be duly signed by them for onward transmission to the state EXCO”, Alhaji Galdimawo explained.

He said, upon receipt of the letter, the state EXCO is expected to constitute a committee that will investigate the issues raised.

“It’s not just to announce that the person has been removed or suspended just like a dream, things are not done like that politically, the Ward leaders don’t have that power totally”, the PRO said.

“So, what they did was exercise in futility, Ahmed Maigari remains the authentic Chairman of the party in Misau LGA, what they did was in violation of the APC constitution”, he disclosed.

While dismissing the action of the Kukadi/Gundari Ward EXCO of the APC, the PRO further explained that the local government EXCO sat on Friday and came to conclusion that Alhaji Maigari remains the Party Chairman and a bonafide member of the APC.

Galdimawo who expressed optimisms that the party will succeed in the upcoming 17th August local government elections, enjoined them to unite for the progress of the Party.

He regretted that constant internal conflict will not augur well for the party, recalling that the removal of the state party chairman by the same Kukadi/Gundari ward did not succeed until the state EXCO gave its approval.

“It’s not something that somebody will just walk up after taking his breakfast and say we have removed our leader, the stakeholders have to be involved in the meeting and fair hearing be given to the accused before you finalize everything”, the PRO concluded.
