The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has assured that it is always ready to support anything that will enhance the development of the subregion, its Bauchi State Coordinator, Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir has said.

“The North East Development Commission is always for anything that will enhance the development of the subregion, it is always ready to help, to take part in such a developmental issue”, Bashir said.

The Coordinator of the commission was speaking Saturday while handing over the commission’s pavilion at the ongoing 15th North East Zonal Trade Fair in Bauchi to the North East Council of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mining and Agriculture (NECCCIMA).

Bashir added, “So should there be anything not only trade fair, but any other developmental activity that is being requested and forwarded to the commission, I’m sure it will take a prompt action to ensure that there is development in the Northeast.”

He explained that the handover of the pavilion followed an earlier request to that effect by the chamber, stressing that “After due considering the commission decided to donate the pavilion in order to encourage trade development and facilitate future trade fair.”

According to him, the donation of the pavilion will go a long way to contribute in facilitating the activities of the chamber at both states and Zonal levels of the Northeast.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the chamber, first Vice President Bauchi state Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA), Alh. Bala Othman Suleiman expressed gratitude to the commission for its generosity, saying the gesture would be promoted at both states and Zonal levels.

He described the pavilion as a well-erected and decorated edifice that could stand the test of time in facilitating the conduct of meetings and other events of the chamber including organizing trade fair.

Suleiman, who also holds the traditional title of Sarkin Sudan of Misau emirate in Bauchi state, assured that the chamber promotes the conduct of trade fairs at both zonal and national levels.

The Chamber Vice President revealed that BACCMA is now gearing up to conduct an international trade fair in Bauchi as one of the three states that included Port Harcourt approved for the conduct of the event with Port Harcourt already having its own.

North East Zonal Trade Fair is aimed at showcasing the untapped investment potential of the terror-troubled region.
