NEDC Summons Contractor Handling Project In Ningi Fistula Centre For Explanation

Contractor handling the construction of some structures at the National Obstetrics Fistula Centre in Ningi, Bauchi state has been summoned to Maiduguri, headquarters of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for explanation on the project he is executing in Ningi.

The NEDC Managing Director /CEO, Mohammed G. Alkali gave the directive Saturday when he led the other management team during an inspection visit to the project site in Ningi where he blamed the contractor on some of the structure’s specifications.

He therefore stressed the need for the contractor to report to the NEDC headquarters in Maiduguri to give adequate explanations on reasons causing delay in the smooth completion of the projects in order to rectify whatever anomaly.

He was speaking when the project site engineer was conducted round the commission’s management team, stressing that the desire of the NEDC in seeing that the facilities were put to use as soon as possible cannot be overemphasized.

Alkali further explained that the commission is desirous to see  both the surgical ward and the skills acquisition centre of the fistula project were well equipped in order to facilitate easy treatment and rehabilitation of the patients. 

The NEDC MD/CEO however commended Management of the Fistula Centre for the provision of healthcare to the parents, assuring that NEDC will always support the centre to meet the objectives of its establishment. 

The commission management team also visited some construction works that included Mega schools at the Ningi and Giade, projects in Darazo LGA as well as some Drilling of solar powered Boreholes projects already completed where the managing director expressed satisfaction with the jobs.

Speaking more on the projects visited, Alkali said the commission was ever ready to provide the necessary intervention to cushion the effect of hardship experienced by the people in the region as a result of insurgency and other disaster.

Alkali, who also assured that NEDC would not skew its intervention towards a particular state, said every state would continue to be treated equally.

A resident of Giade, Mohammed Adamu told the NEDC management team that their problem of water scarcity had ceased to exist ever since the commission constructed a borehole for them.

Other residents also praised the commission for the provision of the social amenity to them and hope for more to make life more bearable.
