NEDC To Install Solar System, Boreholes To Bauchi Community In 2 Weeks

North East Development Commission (NEDC) has pledged to install a solar electricity system and motorized borehole at Kalajanga village in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi state.

The Managing Director of the commission, Mohammed G. Alkali made the pledge Thursday when he led the House of Representatives on a site projects inspection tour in the village area.

Mohammed G. Alkali MD/CEO NEDC gave the assurance that the commission would sink the solar electricity system and motorized boreholes in the village within the next two weeks.

Earlier, the community leader who holds the traditional title of Galadiman Kalajanga, Malam Ali Bakuros expressed gratitude to the commission for the bridge construction which he said would curb flooding in the area.

Malam Ali also complained of the problem of acute drinking water the community was experiencing for decades and asked the commission to come to their aid.

The site project tour, which involves the construction of a kilometers roads with three bridges, was inspected along with a National Assembly Committee on NEDC led by its chairman Hon. Usman Zanna.

The Project Manager, Engr. Imran Amina Khan of the Triacta Nigeria Ltd who conducted the team round the project said the bridge bisecting the village was almost 80 percent complete.

Also speaking on the visit, the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on NEDC, Hon. Usman Zannah, explained that the inspection visit was to ascertain how judiciously the public funds with the commission are being spent in the state.
