North-East PDP backs Governors Forum’s stand on party’s leadership tussle

The Zonal Working Committee and states Chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Northeast Zone have declared support to the recent decision taken by the Party’s Governors Forum on the leadership tussle which engulfed the party at the national level.

The support which was contained in a Communique of their meeting in Bauchi on Wednesday, stressed that the meeting was necessitated by the current happening at the National Level of
the Party.

Presenting the communique to newsmen at the Zonal office of the party in Bauchi, Chairman of the Gombe state PDP, Alhaji Tahir Shehu noted that the meeting which was well attended, deliberated
extensively on moving the party forward.

“As regards to the National Chairmanship tussle, the meeting wish to align itself with the position of the governors, the BOT, National Assembly Caucus and all the Major critical stakeholders in the zone”, the Communique disclosed.

The Northeast Zonal Leaders of the PDP expressed optimisms that the decision will bring decorum and sanity that will lead the party to lofty height.

Tahir Shehu added that the meeting reflected on the 16 years of the party at the helms of affairs as a ruling party and how it lost out to the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2015.

While stating that PDP years were a blessing to Nigerians, the communique observed that the All Progressive Congress (APC) administration has brought untold hardship to the generality of Nigerians.

It regretted that upon the untold hardship brought by the APC, no proactive measures are being taken to remedy the situation.

The meeting which asserted that PDP remains the last hope Nigerians as a messiah, maintained that only the PDP can provide the needed solution to the current challenges facing the country.

The Northeast Zonal PDP noted that the since the inception of democratic rule in 1999, the party has been dominant in the Northeast, sub-region, producing a former Vice President, former/ Serving
governors, former/ serving National Chairmen, among others.

The meeting acknowledged and appreciated the unparalleled
infrastructural development across PDP controlled states, urging the Governors not to relent on the solid foundation they have laid.

The communique also expressed satisfaction with the tremendous support and encouragement it is receiving from the PDP governors for the Zonal Office and all the state chapters of the party.

It passed vote of confidence on Governors of Adamawa, Bauchi and Taraba for performing very well and urged them to continue providing the dividends of
democracy to the people of the zone and Nigeria at large.

The meeting also appreciate the host, Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of PDP Governors Forum for facilitating and providing conducive atmosphere for the
meeting.
