Northeast Coalition Calls For Prayers Against National Protest
BY KHALID IDRIS DOYA, Bauchi
A Group rooting support for the humanitarian efforts of the Executive Director, Humanitarian Affairs of North-East Development Commission (NEDC), Malam Musa Umar Yashi, has called for fervent prayers instead of the intended mass protests which, it said, are vulnerable to vandals’ infiltration.
The director general of the group coalition under the aegis of North East Support Groups, Yazid Inuwa MK Bauchi, made the call Tuesday during a press conference at its Bauchi State Headquarters.
The Yazid who also heads the Coalition of Tinubu Support Groups in Bauchi state, urged for calm among its members so as not to be a devious plot of destroying the democratic they fought for in bringing the present government to power.
Mr. Yazid Inuwa, also the Zonal Coordinator, TSM, North-East who played an active role as a key stakeholder in the 2023 Presidential election, recalled the enormous benefits to the Northeast the support of Malam Musa Umar Yashi in the NEDC has delivered to the people of Bauchi state, and the entire North East geopolitical zone.
Mr. Yazid Inuwa Bauchi therefore cautioned the youths of the zone to eschew protests and riots, as these are likely to impact negatively on Bauchi state and the entire subregion which is fast recovering from the ashes of years of Boko Haram and bandits’ attacks.
The coalition then admonished its members in the Northeast to fit into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda with its assurance of more reconstruction of the Northeast zone beyond the regular palliative measures that cushion the negative effects of the country’s harsh economic weather.
Yashi further called on religious clerics to step up to their responsibility for preaching the gospel of peace and fervent prayers instead of the planned nationwide mass protests that are tantamount to truncating the relatively peaceful atmosphere of the country.
He urged young people to be prayerful instead of taking to the streets in the name of protests, while warning criminal elements to sheath their swords, forget about the idea of taking over Nigeria’s streets, and allow innocent Nigeria’s citizens to continue with their day-to-day legitimate life pursuits.
