Outgoing NYSC Corps members warned against mishandling of discharge certificate

By Samuel Luka, Bauchi

The outgoing members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) across the country have been advised to handle their certificates with utmost care to avoid being damaged or misplaced.

Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, Bauchi state Coordinator of the NYSC who gave the advice during the distribution of Certificate of National Service to the outgoing 2023 Batch ‘B’ stream II corps members in the state, pointed out that the scheme doesn’t issue a second certificate.

She also informed the corps members that the certificate, when lost, would be replaced by only a letter of acknowledgement.

“Immediately you collect your certificate, ensure you handle it with all care because we don’t issue a second certificate. When your original certificate is missing, we don’t issue another one”, she cautioned.

“We’ll just give you a letter saying that you have served with us and that’s all. So, please, handle it with care,” she advised.

Yakubu also urged the corps members not to be in a rush to laminate their certificates, admonishing them to check and ensure that their names were well spelt before lamination.

The state coordinator advised that any error or mistakes spotted in the certificate should be reported to the deployment and relocation branch for advice on what to do.

She expressed optimisms that members of the corps who adhered to the scheme’s guidance right from the orientation camp up to the end of the service year, particularly those who embraced skills acquisition program would not be abandon by God.

“You will see the importance of that hand work you have learned,” said the state Coordinator.

Our Correspondent gathered that a total of 1477 which consisted of 962 males and 515 females corps members collected their certificate of National Service in Bauchi.
