Police dismisses one constable, demotes 4 officers over misconduct in Bauchi

The Bauchi state Police command on Monday disclosed that it has sanctioned 18 of its personnel, including dismissal of one constable over misconduct from January 2024-date.

Commissioner of Police, Bauchi state command, Auwal Musa Muhammad who made this known while addressing newsmen in his office, said the decision was in line with the command’s commitment to accountable and transparent service delivery.

“We have actively addressed instances of professional misconduct within our Command from January 2024 to date”, CP Muhammad stated.

He said, a total of 18 personnel have undergone internal disciplinary measures, which according to him, demonstrated the command’s dedication to maintaining high operational standards.

“This includes the dismissal of one Police Constable, rank reductions for four (4) officers, issuance of warning letters to six (6) personnel, and reprimands for four others”, the CP said.

He further pointed out that the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) of the command which is functioning within the Police Public Relations Department, has played a critical role in addressing public complaints against the misconduct of officers and men.

CP Muhammad stated that, during the period under review, the command received 10 complaints and all were meticulously investigated.

He said that the effort of the command resulted to recovery of N784,000 from the implicated officers, which has been duly returned to the affected victims.

The CP pledged the resolve of the command under his watch to remain steadfast in continuing internal disciplinary procedures for personnel who do not uphold the established standards.

He said that the measure will ensure accountability and fostering continuous improvement in the command’s service delivery effort.
