Police rescue two from kidnappers den in Bauchi

The Bauchi state police command has rescued two persons from kidnappers hideout in Alkaleri forest of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil who made this known in a press release on Tuesday, said the arrest was as a result of the Police’s continued clampdown on criminal merchants desperate to make a living at the expense of law-abiding citizens.

“On 31/07/2022 at about 0730hrs patrol team Alkaleri Division in conjunction with Danga security on Rescue Mission Operation, encountered suspected kidnappers armed with riffles and engaged in battle and successfully rescued two of the kidnapped victims”, the press release said.

The PPRO gave the names of the rescued victims of the kidnappers as Adamu Alhaji Usman 19yr-old and Sahura Alhaji Sunusi ‘f’ aged 17yrs of Garin Bakwai village via Maimadi ward.

According to the police, four motorcycles were recovered from the kidnappers.

The press release which said that the victims were rushed to the hospital for medical attention in line with global best practices, pledged to keep the general public updated as the investigation unfold.

SP Wakil said the commissioner of Police in the state, Umar Mamman Sanda while commending the gallantry of the tactical team and resilience of the operative in the battleground, appreciated members of the public for their calmness as well as the useful information given to the command.

The press release said that CP enjoined the good people of Bauchi State not to relent in partnering with the Police, especially towards giving information.

The CP also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or abnormal occurrence to the police.

While stating that the kidnappers escaped with serious degrees of injuries during the rescue operation, the CP urged the citizens to get involved more than before, as many of the kidnappers may likely melt into the surrounding communities to escape been captured.
