President Buhari commissions new health facilities at Maiduguri Teaching Hospital

President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has on Thursday, commissioned new projects in Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
Our Corresspondent reports that the newly completed projects commissioned by the president include, Cancer center, kidney centre and New Doctors Quarters 24 units bedroom flats Housing estate.
The president was in Maiduguri to also sympathize with the government and people of Borno state over the recent market fire incident that left a lot of properties destroyed.
President Muhammadu Buhari who was highly impressed with the level of the quality of work and facilities in the hospital, commended the Chief Medical Director of the hospital for piloting the affairs of the institution effectively.
The president who urged the management of the hospital to sustain the culture of maintenance, said without maintenance of the equipment, the machines will require repairs within the shortest period of time.
Muhammadu Buhari who said that the hospital was lucky to have people like the CMD as managers, called on other staff to continue to support him for effective service delivery.
While speaking, the CMD of the hospital, Prof. Ahmed Ahidjo, described the facilities in the hospital as latest ones in the whole West Africa.
The CMD appreciated the contribution of the Borno state Government under Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum for always considering the hospital as his own.
“Gov. Zulum is good friend of the hospital and a contributor towards development of the hospital and the staff”, he said.
Dignitaries present at the occasion were, the Vice president-Elect, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, former Borno state Governor, Sen. Ali Modu Sharif, HON. Umar Betara member house of representatives Prof ISA Ali Pantami, Vice chancellor, university of Maiduguri, among others.
During the visit, the minister of health, Dr. Osagie E. Ehanire and the CMD of the hospital took the president round to see the completed projects and the facilities.
On his part, the Minister who expressed delight over the quality of the projects, thanked the host Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum and the Chief Medical Director for hosting the programme successfully.
